Bobba

Some peeps in Twitter have asked what the "bar" means in our new logo&name.

The iPhone version of Bobba will indeed be a bar. Or more accurately, a collection of bars, clubs and cafés. These are places to meet new people and make new friends. There are bartenders serving free drinks (yes, free as in free beer!), and comfy corners to hang out and mingle with others. The places have different themes to bring like-minded people together.

Here are some examples of the places that will be in the first version. Right now there are no people in sight, but soon we're ready to open the doors!

Here's the avatar editor of upcoming Bobba Bar for iPhone/iPod touch.
 
You can customize your avatar's hat, head, upper body, lower body and shoes by swiping left or right. The different parts combined with color options produce millions of possible combinations. If you can't decide, you can always shake your iDevice to get something random.

Hi all,

as Bobba has already been submitted to Apple QA and the iPhone launch is getting closer, we thought that you would like to see some of the new stuff we have. The first one is our new logo. We've changed the concept quite a bit and the new logo and also the new name reflects that.



For those of you who have seen Bobba on Symbian or previous screenshots, you will be surprised when you see the iPhone version. :) We are really excited about this and waiting to hear your thoughts about it.

Hi everyone!

UPDATE:  Fashion Show event that was planned to be held today  4:00 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST has been canceled.

Sorry to inform everyone who has been spending their time in front of a mirror lately. Unfortunately we were forced to cancel the whole Fashion Show event this time. The fine folks in the Bobba design team are happy to present two new fancy hairstyles, one for the ladies and one for the boys. You like them? Then stay tuned for more! We have lots of exciting stuff in the pipeline that should see the light of the day in the near future.

Hey there folks!

We're back this week with a new Socialite Spotlight!  This particular gem comes courtesy of a recommendation by several of the prominent socialites in Bobba, and I'm very glad to highlight this person for their contribution to the social scene.

Oh my, it's GAWD!  With one of the funniest senses of humor that has anyone in a room with him rolling on the floor and laughing out loud, GAWD takes the cake for man-about-town in Bobba.  When he isn't frequenting the rooms of friends both new and old, he's running his own venue - "Booze N' Bowling", Bobba's premiere bowling alley.  Those who know him can attest that he is "Great fun." and "Always keeps you laughing."

Kudos to GAWD for being two scoops of awesome! 

If you also know someone in Bobba that deserves special recognition for being out there and a party animal that you think should be highlighted on the Socialite Spotlight, (even if the person in mind is you!) send me your nickname and a few words about what makes you the l33t badness.  Who knows, you might be picked as one of the elite that greet and meet in Bobba!  Send those nominations to "GreyPawn" in Bobba, via private message.

Build-A-Bar Competition
As you may or may not have noticed, we're going to be switching things up a bit with Bobba.  To make Bobba an even better experience for you, we're changing our focus to center more on the social aspect of Bobba in the weeks to come.  What would be a better place to make new friends than a cool bar?  There have been many great user spaces built by the community, and now in thanks we're going to host a competition to see who can build the coolest, busiest bar. 

The Top Ten Winners will each get FIVE completely unavailable rare items to decorate their rooms with.  Not only this, but the space will also be featured on the official website AND might be turned into a permanent Featured Space.  Stay tuned to this Blog for details on how to enter.

FEATURES
Ignore Feature
Bobba is all about making new friends, but sometimes people just don't get along.  If you find yourself in a situation where someone is bothering you, make sure you use the Ignore feature to put that person on ignore.  Remember, in Bobba, you have the power to choose who you wish to chat with!  To ignore someone, just select them and hit the "Ignore" button that comes up.  It's as easy as that!

EVENTS
Fashion Show!
October 12th, from 3:00 p.m. EST to 4:00 p.m. EST, come join us in the Operator's Room for a Fashion Show!  Make sure to model your favorite outfit and you might take home a prize!

UPDATE: In lieu of Columbus Day holiday, the Fashion Show has been rescheduled for Friday, October 16th, 4:00 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST.
