New version sneak preview

A new iphone version is coming soon. This new version will bring Bobba Bar to version 2.0!

Focus in this new version has been to enable users to find interesting people more easily. We have been implementing this in steps: first better messaging and profiles, then liking and profile commenting and finally a new people view. The new people view will show you recommended people, selected to match your profile interests. From there you can easily browse profiles, like other people, invite online people to chat in a private place and maybe mark users as "Not interested" which will later hide them from your people view. People view also has a search functionality based on user names.

To streamline and clarify the usability we have turned off the old friend list. Same functionality can be achieved with messaging and messages view. Messages view will now show online status for people and it has the same Go to and Invite functions as the profile view. Liking, commenting some ones profile or sending a message creates a "Buddy” connection between you and the receiver. This connection is visible in the message view and enables similar possibilities as the old friend list.

New iPhone version available!

It is now possible to privately comment profiles and like users. Other new features include asking users to fill in missing profile information and seeing which conversations have unread messages.

To update, open App Store in your iPhone/iPod touch and go to Updates tab.

Sneak preview - Lot's of cool new features

Lot's of cool new features coming in the next iPhone version!

Like - Like other user's from their profiles. Liking can be canceled any time with Unlike.

Comment - Comment other user's interests just by tapping the profile line. Lines available for commenting are marked with a small speech bubble.

Ask About - Ask other user's to fill in their missing profile info.

All these new features use the messenger so Like, Comments and Questions are all private. Only sender and receiver will be able to see and reply to them. Like, Comments and Questions use a special looking message bubble to separate them from normal messages.

And Messages view has been updated to show unread message count per conversation thread.

Avatar profiles! New iPhone version available

Personal profiles are here! Looking for friends or just like to hang around? Maybe someone interesting from nearby?

Start filling your profile and let others find out what interests you. Choose your location to let others see where you are coming from, and see where they are coming.

Here's some additional info about profiles, see previous post for basic info:

  • "Me" tab let's you edit your own information. Old users might have some information marked with red, that means the information is missing and should be filled in
  • Location let's you pick your location. Alternatively you can choose not to show your location.
  • Languages and their order also affect the "Places" view
  • Gear button on the top left corner opens up your account settings. From there you can change your password, verify and change email address, control email notifications and block place invitations
To update, open App Store in your iPhone/iPod touch and go to Updates tab.

Sneak preview - Avatar Profiles

Sometimes it's really difficult to find people who share interests with you. To make it easier we have been developing a new profile view for avatars. Profile view will replace the old Avatar info view.

You can find your own profile in the "Me" tab and it's divided into three areas:

On top there's basic information about you - Age, Location, Language and what are you looking for in Bobba Bar. If your profile is missing some basic information it will be marked with red and is really easy to fill in.

In the middle there's a tool bar which has buttons for sending messages, friendship and blocking. This is hidden when viewing your own profile in "Me" tab.

The bottom part of the profile has slots for free form information you'd like to share with others: You can write a little bit about yourself, your interests and what kind of music, food, movies etc. you like. Only the slots you have filled in will be visible to others.

Avatar profiles will be available in the next iPhone version.
