Frequently asked questions

Is Bobba the mobile version of Habbo?

No.

Both Bobba and Habbo are developed and published by Sulake, but Bobba is a service and brand of its own. Also, you have to be 16 years or older to use Bobba.

How do I chat?

Just start typing with the keypad and the chat entry field appears.

Signed or Unsigned, What's the Difference?

First off, what exactly is this signed vs. unsigned stuff?

Signing is a way for software and cell phone makers to guarantee that the application that is being installed is safe. Software companies  have to get certified in order to release a signed application. Phones are required to be configured to allow unsigned installations and will issue warning messages when doing so.

Some operator sold phones may have the setting disabled, thus only allowing signed applications to be installed.

How do phones that work on the S60 platform (Nokia, etc.) deal with signed vs. unsigned applications?

Devices with the S60 platform consider the same application to be two different applications if one version of the application is signed and another is unsigned.

What does this mean for me as a Bobba Beta Tester?

It means that when you have the unsigned version of Bobba beta installed and you install/update the signed version of bobba, you will end up with not one, but TWO installations on the same phone.

You must uninstall the older bobba beta one immediately after installing the new one.

NOTE: This will also happen with the automatic update.

How can I tell the difference?

We've added a notification about it in the installation window, and we've also change the Bobba icon so that you can separate the two and uninstall the unsigned version.

What if I don't have the unsigned version?

Then you are set! There's nothing special you need to do to continue using Bobba and all the newest updates you receive or download will be signed versions.

What if I start the old unsigned version after a new one is installed?

The old unsigned version will update the newest version of the signed.

This will be done also, if the newer has already been installed. (The old version is not aware if the newer version has been installed since Phone protect applications from other applications. )

You cannot use the older one for above reason. There is no reason not to uninstall the old one, and it should be done immediately after installing a new one.

Why cannot the old be uninstalled automatically or be updated to the signed version?

Phone operating system protects applications from other applications. Since the old unsigned and the new is signed they are considered to be different applications they cannot effect each other.

Unfortunately we found no reasonable way to make the update entirely automatic.

If I have added Bobba to phone front page, will it point to new version?

It will not. You should uninstall the old one and add then the new one to phone front page.

Can I remove current version and then install a new one?

Yes you can.

I got mixed up. Can I remove all versions and then install the proper one?

Yes you can, but this is not needed.

Will subsequent updates go without any extra hassle?

Yes. The situation is only for updating unsigned Bobba beta to signed Bobba.

I have a Nokia 5800 Express Music and am experiencing an "Expired Certificate" issue when I try to install Bobba. How can I get around this?

Some Nokia 5800 Express Music phones with touch screen got a software bug in installation. This bug prevents you from installing any Symbian-signed or developer-signed applications and shows an "Expired certificate" error message. You can resolve this by updating the phone's firmware to the latest version. You can do this via Nokia PC Suite or through your phone's data network by entering *#0000# from the home screen. Select "Check for Updates" to start the process. Updating should resolve the issue with signing. If not, you can try resetting the phone's software to the manufacturer state via key sequence *#7370# and entering lock code 12345 and updating after the reset. Be aware though, this wipes out your stored data so you should backup using Nokia PC Suite first.
